Speak OUT: Fight back against homophobia and transphobia

Wednesday 10th December is Human Rights Day.

In celebration, the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission is launching Speak OUT: 5 ways to fight back against homophobia and transphobia. Watch and share the video with your friends and family.

Unchecked prejudice often leads directly to discrimination, violence and the denial of basic human rights to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals. You can help us change this.

Encourage people to think about their own prejudice and take action to support LGBT people. It’s the way forward to a world where all people are valued and respected and where everyone’s human rights are protected.

Here are a few ways you can Speak OUT:

  • Sign the petition! Encourage the United Nations to address bullying against LGBT young people
  • Join the conversation online! Use #LGBTSpeakOut to share how your community is impacted by violence or discrimination and what you are doing to stop it.
  • Watch the video with friends and family members. Talk to them about why it’s important for you to speak out.

Together, we can create a world where no one is bullied, harassed, or killed because of prejudice against who we are, the way we express ourselves, or who we love. But in order to get there, we all need to speak out. How can you Speak OUT today?
